Paws Up for the ASPCA!

February 12th, 2013

FLASh would like to give a Big Paws Up to the ASPCA and their work with local animal welfare organizations, like FLASh.  Because of their commitment to helping small organizations make a big impact on the homeless pet problem in communities like Lafayette, FLASh was able to help over 600 pets in the Lafayette area get vaccinated in 2012, through their “Surrender Prevention – Vaccination Safety Net for Area Animals in Need” ASPCA grant.

Thank you, ASPCA.  Paws up to you!!

Cameron Needs Our Help

November 9th, 2012

FLASh got the call Wednesday, desperately seeking help.  A lady, Janet, had spotted a dog, painfully thin and obviously adandoned and alone, in the middle of Cameron St.  She stopped, got him out of the street, and asked around.  No one knew whose dog he was…. so…. she scooped him up and put him in her car.

Named after the street on which he was found, Cameron quickly showed Janet his personality: sweet and gentle.  He sat quietly in the car. He had apparently had a rough road in his young life, but things were about to turn around.

A trip to the vet let us know that he’s about a year old and significantly underweight.  He has pressure soars on his backend, a tell-tale sign of being left in a crate for extended periods of time.  He is on antibiotics and his wounds should heal nicely.  He’s had all his vaccinations, and as soon as he gains some weight, he will be neutered.  Then he will be all set for adoption.

FLASh is committed to helping Cameron get on the path to a bright future.  If you would like to be one of Cameron’s angels and a part of helping him, please consider donating.  Every dollar helps.

You can see more photos of sweet Cameron here.  And watch a video of him here!

FLASh Struts in a Big Way!

October 1st, 2012

A big Thank You to all who supported FLASh in the recent Strut Your Mutt event, help at Parc Sans Souci on Sept. 22.  The event was a huge success, for FLASh and for 7 other Louisiana animal organizations, and for Best Friends Animal Society.  We extend out sincere thanks to Best Friends for choosing Lafayette as one of the 6 cities to host Strut in 2012.

FLASh overtopped its fundraising goal of $5000.00, raising $5129.00 online to date.  The FLASh Strut site stays open for donations till Oct. 6, so there is still time to donate.

And! On the day of the event, $444.oo more was raised, thanks to those of you who registed to strut that morning.  Wow!  Thank you!

FLASh members not only participated as Strutters, but many FLASh members were instrumental in serving to coordinate this event.  Thank you all!

Here are a few photos of the day.  And what a day it was.

Make a Real Difference; FLASh Your Love for the Animals

July 27th, 2012

Good Morning, everyone!  Happy Friday. It is a good day to adopt! Let’s think about the homeless dogs and cats who would LOVE to spend the weekend in a loving home.  You CAN help them by becoming a member of FLASh.  For just $20 a year, you can make a REAL difference in the like of a homeless animal.

FLASh, through your donations, offers help to animals in need, so they do not end up in a shelter, through working with rescues, spay/neuter, vaccinations, pet food assistance, and helping people find loving homes for their furkids, when that is the only option.

FLASh works very hard to help to promote adoption from Lafayette Animal Control Center and stands at the ready to assist the animals there, when asked by the shelter for assistance.

FLASh, through your donations, has been able to hold several successful adoption promotion events, and lots of fun community events, with more events coming!  But FLASh and the animals need you, so that we can make it all happen.

Please consider becoming a FLASh member, or renewing your membership now.  The animals will be forever grateful.

Kitten rescued on Johnston St, dashing between cars. FLASh funded vaccinations and spay, and found a forever home.
