Vet appointments were made.  Vaccinations were given.  Thankfully both dogs were already altered.  And both tested negative for heartworm.  Whew!

Good Morning, everyone!  Another pretty day here in Acadiana!  A great day to take your canine companion for a walk or to the park. Or sit with your feline friend, together reading the paper and relaxing.

Please think about all the homeless dogs and cats who would LOVE to be out and about today, or sitting with their forever person in a loving home, on a pretty day like today (or any day.).  You CAN help them by becoming a member of FLASh.  For just $20 a year, you can make a REAL difference in the like of a homeless animal.

FLASh, through your donations, offers help to animals in need, so they do not end up in a shelter.  We do this through working with rescues, spay/neuter funding, vaccinations, pet food assistance, and helping people find loving homes for their furkids, when that is the only option.

Flash works very hard to help to promote adoption from Lafayette Animal Control Center and stands at the ready to assist the animals there, when asked by the shelter for assistance.

FLASh, through your donations, has been able to hold several successful adoption promotion events, and lots of fun community events, with more events coming!  But FLASh and the animals need you, so that we can make it all happen.

We got busy making calls and sending emails.  The angels smiled on us and lead us to Angelle, who offered to foster him and, without hesitation, went out to meet Bacchus (then unnamed) and his rescuer.  Angelle and Bacchus were soon on their way to Angelle’s home.

Bacchus and Angelle visited the vet last week.  Overall, he is a healthy happy dog.  He had a bit of a respiratory infection.  But the vet reports that he is in good shape.

Not so much could be said for the FLASh bank account.  Bacchus’ vet visit was more than we had anticipated.  Antibiotics get pricier every day.

So, if you can find an extra dollar or two, or would like to chip in the cost of a latte’, FLASh’s bank account would be ever so grateful. FLASh has helped and continues to help as many families and animals as can, with the primary goal of preventing surrender to the shelters in the area.

Bacchus will be neutered within the next few weeks and is currently takiing adoption applications.  He is about 2 years old, gets along with everyone, and is a sweet, loving dog.

The presentation will be at the Staybridge Suites Meeting Room, 129 E. Kaliste Saloom Rd. , LA 70508, from 10:00-2:00, Saturday, Feb. 25th.  There is no charge.

If you’re more in the mood for a little play time, come on out to Cupids and Canines, a celebration of adoption at our wonderful Camp Bow Wow.  There will be lots of adoptable dogs there for you to meet.  There will also be music and treats, and lots of fun.    The event is from 11:00-3:00, at Camp Bow Wow, 114 Eunice St, Lafayette, LA.

MISSION:  To enhance the quality of life for the dogs, cats, birds and other companion animals in the care of Lafayette Animal Control Center (LACC) and other animal shelters and welfare agencies in the greater Lafayette area, to end euthanasia as the primary means of population control, and to reduce the number of homeless animals at LACC.

FLASh is raffling off 2 pairs of tickets to the sold out show, Cats, at the Heymann Center Feb. 13, 2012, in Lafayette. All proceeds go to helping the animals who end up at animal control, hoping for a new and forever home.
